Will be back in 2022
Dear Hidden Valley Mountain Metric Participants,
The goal of the Hidden Valley Mountain Metric Planning Committee is to provide a safe, high-quality road cycling experience of the Laurel Highlands for all of our participants. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have come to the conclusion that we will not be able to achieve this goal on July 11, 2020.
The continued closure of non-essential businesses in Somerset County has compromised our ability to secure rest stops, and procure the locally sourced food and services needed to support the event. Most importantly, we do not feel that we can assure the safety of our riders, volunteers, and the surrounding community. Consequently, we believe that the best course of action is to cancel the July 11, 2020 Hidden Valley Mountain Metric. As we have stated in our cancellation policy, we will be issuing a full refund via PayPal to everyone who has registered for the event.
The Mountain Metric Committee is exploring options to provide an alternative Laurel Highlands cycling experience for this fall. Possibly, an informal ride with suggested routes and rest stops at local businesses that may still take advantage of the spectacular scenery from riding in the mountains. We are working with our partner, ridewithgps.com, to develop a digital download of possible alternate courses that would be available to all riders at any time. We will keep you informed via email, social media, and our website (mountainmetric.org) of any future plans for the remainder of this year.
But we remain optimistic for the future, so please tentatively mark your calendars for Saturday, July 10, 2021 for the return of the Hidden Valley Mountain Metric.
